Phoenix College Volleyball Sweeps Justice College in Season Opener

Phoenix, AZ – The Phoenix College Bears volleyball team opened their 2025 season in dominant fashion, sweeping Justice College 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-15) on Friday night.

The Bears put together a strong all-around performance, hitting .222 as a team while holding Justice College in check throughout the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Krystal Aguirre led the way with 8 kills, while Leah Luevanos and Baylee Furler-Uptergrove each added 7. Setter Penina Vito set the tone offensively, dishing out 18 assists and adding 2 service aces. Defensively, libero Ella Celaya anchored the back row with 5 digs, while Emese Southwick and Debanhi Aguiar contributed solid play at the net.

Phoenix College was aggressive from the service line, tallying 11 aces on the night, with multiple players chipping in.

With the sweep, the Bears start the season 1-0 and will look to build momentum as they continue non-conference play.
