Phoenix, Ariz. — September 9, 2025 — Phoenix College's women's soccer team put on a scoring clinic Tuesday night at Hoy Stadium, defeating GateWay Community College (AZ) 17–0 in NJCAA Division II play.
The Bears (1-0-2, 1-0-1 ACCAC) exploded for eight goals in the first half and nine more in the second, out-shooting the Geckos 29–0 and not allowing a single shot on goal.
Freshman forward Selena Flores Craig led the way with eight goals, while Carmen Coronado tallied three goals and five assists. Giselle German added four goals and an assist, Yaritza Duncan and Riley Mahnke each found the back of the net once, and six different Bears recorded assists. Goalkeepers Irma Palominos and Bijou Holm combined for a 70-minute shutout.
The victory marks Phoenix College's first win of the season after back-to-back draws to open the year. The Bears remain unbeaten and will look to carry their momentum into their next ACCAC match.
Phoenix College finished with a 29–0 edge in shots and a 6–0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bears return to action September 13 at Hoy Stadium, 5:45pm versus No. 4 ranked Scottsdale.
