Bears Split Doubleheader with GateWay in Season Opener

Phoenix, Arizona — Phoenix College baseball opened the season with a split against GateWay Community College on Saturday afternoon at PC.

In Game 1, the Bears earned a 5–4 win behind a strong offensive performance. Phoenix jumped out to an early lead and collected 11 hits in the victory. Walker Cook drove in two runs, while Parker Noah, Ty Acton, and Nikolaus Hill each added RBIs. On the mound, Jackson Sanders earned the win with 2.1 scoreless innings, and Joey Parrish picked up the save.

In Game 2, Phoenix fell 7–6 in a back-and-forth game that went nine innings. The Bears built an early lead but GateWay answered with a big seventh inning to take control. Brayden Flores led the offense with three hits, while Walker Cook drove in three runs.

Phoenix College will return to action on the road as they face Glendale Community College on Tuesday, January 27, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
