Women's Soccer Set for Region I Division II Semifinal Showdown Against Scottsdale

The No. 2 seed Phoenix College Bears are set to host No. 3 Scottsdale Community College on Friday, October 31st at 11:30am in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Semifinals.

Phoenix (11-2-3, 11-1-2 ACCAC) closed out the regular season on a strong note, earning wins over Chandler-Gilbert, Mesa, and Glendale, with their only late loss coming to Scottsdale. The Bears have been dominant at home, remaining undefeated with a 6-0-2 record at Hoy Stadium.

Scottsdale (12-2-1, 11-2-1 ACCAC) finished just behind Phoenix in the conference standings and also went 3-1 down the stretch, earning key victories over Glendale, Paradise Valley, and Phoenix, with its lone loss to Pima.

The teams split their regular season meetings — Phoenix took the first matchup 1-0 on September 13, while Scottsdale edged the Bears 2-1 in the rematch on October 27.

Phoenix enters the postseason led by Carmen Coronado, who has tallied 21 goals and 14 assists this season, and goalkeeper Bijou Holm, who holds an impressive 0.83 goals-against average with four shutouts.

The winner of Thursday's semifinal will advance to the Region I Division II Championship, where they will face the winner of No. 4 Glendale Community College vs. No. 1 Pima Community College.

Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. at Phoenix College.
