Phoenix College alum Esthefanny Barreras continues to make her mark on the international stage, earning the Golden Ball for Best Goalkeeper at the 2024-2025 Liga BBVA MX awards for the second consecutive year.
Barreras, the starting goalkeeper for both Pachuca and the Mexican National Team, anchored a dominant season by allowing just 30 goals in regular season play—16 in the Apertura and 14 in the Clausura—and 15 more in playoff matches, totaling 45 games. Her impressive 134 saves were instrumental in Pachuca's title-winning campaign.
Pachuca swept the women's category at the Golden Ball ceremony, a testament to the program's strength and Barreras' leadership in net. Her continued success is a point of pride for Phoenix College, where she once stood tall as a standout for the Bears.
