Phoenix College delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, defeating South Mountain Community College 78–33 on the road.
The Bears controlled the game from the opening tip, building an 18–7 lead after the first quarter and holding South Mountain to just four points in the second. Phoenix College took a 33–11 advantage into halftime and never looked back, outscoring the Cougars 45–22 in the second half to secure the win.
Freshman forward Jada Wilson led the way with 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting, adding six rebounds, three steals, and two blocks in a strong all-around performance.
The Bears showcased their depth throughout the contest. Mya Ruiz provided a spark off the bench with 13 points, including three three-pointers, while Mikell "Patsy" VanArsdale added 11 points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc. Francia Rubio chipped in eight points, and Steffy Cervantes contributed six points and six steals to anchor the defensive effort.
Phoenix College shot an efficient 49 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range while forcing 40 South Mountain turnovers. The Bears also dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Cougars 36–29.
