Phoenix College Pulls Away for Win Over Chandler-Gilbert

Phoenix College earned a strong 64–44 win over Chandler-Gilbert Community College, using a big second quarter and steady defense to take control of the game.

The Bears and Coyotes were tied 13–13 after the first quarter, but Phoenix College found its rhythm in the second, outscoring Chandler-Gilbert 16–2 to take a 29–15 lead into halftime. Phoenix College stayed in control the rest of the way, finishing the game with a dominant fourth quarter to seal the win.

Jada Wilson had a huge night for the Bears, leading all scorers with 25 points and pulling down 16 rebounds for a double-double. She was aggressive inside and controlled the paint on both ends of the floor.

Phoenix College also got strong contributions from Francia Rubio, who knocked down four three-pointers for 12 points, and Steffy Cervantes, who added 8 rebounds. As a team, the Bears shot 42% from the field and outrebounded Chandler-Gilbert 46–24.

Defensively, Phoenix College forced 19 turnovers, which helped keep Chandler-Gilbert out of rhythm throughout the game.

The Bears will face Glendale Community College on Saturday, February 7 at 12pm in the Bears Den.
