Phoenix College Dominates South Mountain in Home Victory

Phoenix College women's basketball delivered a strong all-around performance Wednesday night, defeating South Mountain Community College 89–25 in its first home game of the new year.

The Bears set the tone early with a 27–2 first quarter, using aggressive defense and quick transition offense to build a commanding lead. Phoenix held South Mountain to just 20.8 percent shooting from the field and forced 40 turnovers, showcasing a strong defensive effort throughout all four quarters.

Offensively, Phoenix was led by Steffy Cervantes, who scored 20 points, while Jada Wilson added 19 points and Daiana Hollman chipped in 12 points. The Bears shot 56.1 percent from the field and received contributions from the entire roster.

Phoenix controlled the game on both ends of the floor, outscoring South Mountain in every quarter and limiting scoring opportunities with disciplined team defense.

Phoenix will hit the road next to face Scottsdale Community College on Saturday, January 24, with tipoff set for 2:00 p.m. The Bears defeated the Artichokes 58–49 in the first meeting between the two teams on December 10 at Phoenix College.
