Phoenix College Battles in Overtime Loss at Pima, Moves into Third in Conference

Phoenix College women's basketball put together a strong road performance but came up just short in an overtime loss at Pima Community College, falling 74–65 on Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Gym.

Despite the setback, Phoenix's effort keeps the Bears third in the conference standings, continuing a competitive push through ACCAC play.

Phoenix College was led by Steffy Cervantes, who turned in a standout performance with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 45 minutes of action. Daiana Hollman added 16 points, while Jada Wilson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, along with five steals.

The Bears kept the game tight throughout regulation, trailing by just one point after the first quarter and staying within striking distance heading into the fourth. Phoenix closed regulation strong behind aggressive defense and timely scoring to force overtime, where Pima capitalized at the free-throw line to seal the win.

Phoenix College forced 17 turnovers and finished with 16 steals, showcasing defensive intensity on the road. The Bears also held Pima to just 30.8% shooting from three-point range.

Phoenix now returns home for its first home game of the new year, welcoming South Mountain Community College. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
