Phoenix College Dominates South Mountain, Improves to 2–1 in ACCAC Play

Bears score season-high 97 points; host No. 25 Scottsdale next on Dec. 10


Phoenix, Ariz. – The Phoenix College Women's Basketball team delivered its strongest performance of the season on Saturday afternoon, rolling past South Mountain Community College 97–40 on the road. With the win, the Bears move to 5–5 overall and 2–1 in ACCAC play, securing their second conference victory in convincing fashion.

Phoenix College jumped out to a 30–7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring the Cougars in every period. The Bears shot an impressive 53.4% from the field, recorded 32 assists, and forced South Mountain into 47 turnovers.

Freshman guard Jada Wilson led the way with a game-high 21 points, adding 9 assists, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals in an all-around standout effort. Forward Bry'Ann Wiley was nearly unstoppable inside, scoring 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting while pulling down 8 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Steffy Cervantes added 11 points, and Mya Ruiz knocked down three three-pointers to finish with 9. In total, 12 Bears reached the scoring column as Phoenix College's bench provided a major spark.

Defensively, the Bears limited South Mountain to 29.7% shooting and just 2 made three-pointers, while also holding the Cougars to single-digit scoring in both the first and third quarters.

Phoenix College now turns its attention to a key home matchup next week. The Bears will host No. 25–ranked Scottsdale Community College on Wednesday, December 10, at 5:30 p.m. in the Bears Den.
