The Phoenix College Women's Basketball team tipped off the 2025-26 season with a commanding 81-32 win over Arizona Christian University JV in their home opener at Hoy Stadium.
The victory marks a strong start to Head Coach Prayer Branham's fourth season leading the program. Coming off Branham's best season — which included a trip to the conference tournament—the Bears entered the new season with an almost entirely new roster, returning just two players from last year.
Phoenix College wasted no time finding its rhythm, jumping out to a 20-5 lead in the opening quarter and maintaining full control throughout. The Bears outscored ACU 27-5 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Jada Wilson and Faith James paced the Bears with 13 points each, while Steffy Cervantes and Daiana Hollman each added 12. Phoenix shot an impressive 50.7% from the field and racked up 26 steals in the win.
The Bears will look to build on their early momentum as they continue non-conference play before entering ACCAC competition.
