Bears Sweep Chandler-Gilbert Behind Strong Offense and Pitching

The Phoenix College softball team picked up an ACCAC doubleheader sweep over Chandler-Gilbert Community College, earning 7-3 and 3-1 victories on the road.

In game one, the Bears' offense set the tone early and never let up, totaling 15 hits in a 7-3 win. Phoenix College scored in four different innings, highlighted by a four-RBI performance from Katelyn Larney, who also added a home run.

Eva Issitt led the way at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4, while Harli Noriega and Piper Mills each recorded three hits. Noriega added two RBIs, and Mills drove in one as the Bears consistently produced at the plate.

In the circle, Aubree Lovo earned the win in relief, tossing 4.1 shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five to secure the victory.

Game two featured a more defensive battle, with Phoenix College completing the sweep with a 3-1 win. The Bears broke through in the third inning and added an insurance run in the fourth to take control.

Kyla Kim provided the biggest swing of the game with a two-run home run, while Jazlene Barrios added an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Issitt continued her strong day at the plate, going 3-for-4 once again.

In the circle, Julianna Nava earned the win in relief, allowing just one run over four innings while striking out three. Maddison Peter started the game, combining with Nava to limit Chandler-Gilbert to just one run on five hits.

Defensively, the Bears turned a key double play in game two to help preserve the lead.
