Phoenix College softball continued its strong run in conference play by sweeping Chandler-Gilbert Community College in a doubleheader on Tuesday, earning 11–6 and 10–2 victories on the road.
Game 1: Phoenix College 11, Chandler-Gilbert 6
The Bears used a six-run sixth inning to pull away in the opener, finishing with 12 hits and capitalizing on timely offense to secure the win.
Phoenix College broke through with four runs in the third inning to grab early momentum. After Chandler-Gilbert battled back to keep the game close, the Bears delivered the decisive blow in the sixth, plating six runs to create separation.
Olivia Deford led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI while scoring three times. Katelyn Larney added a triple and drove in three runs, and Kyla Kim finished with two hits and an RBI. Contributions came throughout the lineup, including RBIs from Harli Noriega, Taylor Borup, and Annahli Martinez.
In the circle, Julianna Nava earned the win in relief, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit to close out the game.
Game 2: Phoenix College 10, Chandler-Gilbert 2
Phoenix College carried its momentum into the second game, completing the sweep with a decisive 10–2 run-rule victory.
The Bears scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed. After adding two more in the fourth, Phoenix College sealed the game with a five-run fifth inning.
Taylor Borup delivered a big performance, hitting a home run and driving in four RBIs, including a sacrifice fly. Harli Noriega went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, and two RBIs. Eva Issitt added two RBIs, while Kyla Kim contributed two hits and an RBI.
Aubree Lovo earned the win, throwing five complete innings while allowing just four hits and two runs. She struck out five to secure the sweep.
With the pair of victories, the Bears continue to gain momentum as they move forward in conference play.
