The Phoenix College Cross Country teams continued their 2025 season this past weekend at the George Kyte Invitational in Flagstaff, AZ, hosted by Northern Arizona University. The annual meet featured strong competition from across Arizona and provided the Bears with valuable early-season experience on a challenging course.
In the Men's 4.5-Mile Run, freshman Dominic Giacoletti-Diaz made his invitational debut, finishing with a time of 28:45.2. Giacoletti-Diaz placed 91st overall in the open race and 135th in the men's field, showing steady progress in his first collegiate season.
The Women's 2.5-Mile Run showcased a strong pack effort from the Bears. Sophomore Evelyn Osorina led Phoenix College with a time of 19:37.3, placing 28th in the open race and 69th overall. Close behind was sophomore Vanessa Gurrola, who clocked 19:58.2 for 31st in the open (72nd overall). Star Espinoza, also a returning sophomore, recorded a 20:57.1 finish, placing 38th in the open and 79th overall. Freshman Yuridia Ballesteros De La Cruz rounded out the group with a time of 22:14.8, earning 45th in the open and 86th overall.
The Bears will compete in the Embry Riddle Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 6 in Prescott.
