Phoenix College Opens Conference Play With 3-0 Victory Over Pima

PHOENIX, Ariz. – In front of a packed Hoy Stadium crowd on Saturday night, Phoenix College (3-0-0, 1-0-0 ACCAC) delivered a statement win with a 3-0 shutout of visiting Pima Community College (2-1-0, 0-1-0).

The Bears jumped out early and never looked back. Connor Kane opened the scoring in the 21st minute to give PC a 1-0 advantage. Thirteen minutes later, Sergio Jaramillo converted a penalty kick to double the lead at 2-0 heading into halftime. Jhoan Soto sealed the win in the 90th minute on an assist from Jaramillo.

Goalkeeper Jan Villegas posted four saves to earn the clean sheet, while the Phoenix College defense limited the Aztecs to just four shots all match. The Bears outshot Pima 10-4 and held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
