The Bears returned to the winner circle, after defeating Justice College 88-67; in the final game of the Bears' Tip Off Showcase. This win raised PC's record to 2-1 for the season, but Coach Eason was not satisfied with the team's performance.
Coach Eason's Review….
Offense
- Sloppy and inefficient first half (41% FG%); Inconsistent shot selection and close out reads.
- Poor execution; missing screens, soft cuts, not taking advantage of our opponent's mistakes.
- Too many turnovers (24).
- Picked it up each area in the second half (56% FG% and 46% 3FG%).
- Rebounded well (15 offensive rebounds).
Defense
- Poor 2nd half showing for the second day in a row; gave up 43 second half points.
- 1st half we held them to 25% FG%; 2nd half they were up to 44%. We have to be consistent.
- Fouled too many times on shot (24 FTAs allowed).
- We were reactive, instead of proactive.
- Out rebounded them 32-20.
Personnel
- Jamar (Brown) was solid, as usual (19pts, 6rebs, 2asts, and 1stl).
- Mike (Rogers) at a well-rounded game (16pts, 7rebs and 4asts, and 1stl).
- Dre (Andres Arellano) and Nai (Nainoa Peters) chipped in 10pts and 4rebs, a piece.
- O'Hagan (Dwayne Robinson) was inconsistent in his first start (7pts and 3stls).
- Ruben (Cazares) fouled out for the 2nd game in a row (5pts, 11rebs, and 2asts).
Overview
"We did not bring a consistent effort on either end of the floor. Games like these need to be controlled from the jump ball to the final horn. Our commitment to excellence was not evident at all tonight. If this team wants to be a championship level team, they're going to have to dedicate themselves to 40 minutes of high efficiency concept execution."
The Bears have 4 days off before their next game. Thursday, they travel to Las Vegas for the Coyote Classic, hosted by College of Southern Nevada. PC takes on CSN Thursday at 7pm, Western Wyoming Friday at 1pm, Community Christian Saturday at 7pm. That will be their last event before the start of conference play.
