EAC Hands Bears Their Second Consecutive Loss

EAC Hands Bears Their Second Consecutive Loss

PC headed to Thatcher to take on Eastern Arizona Wednesday, December 1st.  It was the only game of the week for the Bears, and it did not go well.  The Gila Monsters knocked off the Bears 89-84; dropping the Bears to 2-2 in ACCAC play.

"Road games in this conference are tough," Eason stated. "If you're not prepared at the start, you will put yourself in a hole you can't recover from."

That was the case on Wednesday night, as the Bears found themselves in a 12 point hole at the half; down 37-49 to EAC.  However, they came out swinging in the second half; scoring 47 points and finding rhythm in their offense.  Unfortunately, they could not find consistency within that rhythm as they missed multiple open shots and committed unforced turnovers.  Furthermore, the defense struggled to find a groove, as it allowed 40 points in the second half; an improvement from the first half, but not enough to get the Bears over the hump.

PC got within 3 points of the Gila Monsters; 76-79, but a foul and turnovers killed the run.  "Young teams struggle with consistent focus. You know they're going to make mistakes. As a coach, you hope you can limit the number and severity of those mistakes.  Tonight, we didn't.

The Bears were led by freshmen guards Michael Rogers (19 points, 3 assists) and Cesar Saenz (18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists).
