The Bears start the season at .500

Baseball has started the season off 6-6 overall (6-4 at home and 0-2 away). Last years team made it the World Series after becoming back to back Region 1 Division 2 Champions.

First year Head Coach for Bears Baseball (former pitching coach for PC baseball for the previous 10 years), Scott Schneider, looks to leave right where he left off. Side note: Schneider has been the Rehab Pitching Coach for the Milwaukee Brewers for the last 7 years.

We caught up with Schneider, to get his opinion on the start of the season.

"We are making adjustments to the new coaching staff and establishing our culture and expectations. We have 1 returning coach who is the Assistant Coach named Cody Brassfield. He was a volunteer assistant for PC last year, and he has taken on a lot of new responsibilities. We also have new coaches Hunter Lessard and Jason Snyder that have been paramount in our process. They both bring strong leadership qualities and a great understanding of the mental side of the game" - Head Coach, Scott Schneider

Top performers statistically to start the season has been, Robby Butenshoen (pitching) and Casey Wayne (hitting).

Coach Schneider stated "The team is young and is getting better everyday. (They lost about half of their previous starting lineup)They're learning all of what encompases in how to compete as a collegiate athlete. Our new players are continuing to develop an understanding for how to play at this level. Six out seven of our 9-10 consitent starters are new to the program and half of them are in their first year of collegiate baseball. My goal is to continue to come together as a team and for the team to learn how to play together at this level".

Baseball looks to get back in the win coloumn as Lukas Hinze and Zach Zawaschka come back from injuries. The team is expecting big things from both of them in their return.

Next game: February 17, 3pm at Marich Field
